The coffee's name is taken from a text by medieval Italian poet Dante Alighieri with a nod to Literacy Pittsburgh's mission statement: "better lives through learning." Formed in 1982, Literacy Pittsburgh's tutoring and small classes form a safe and supportive environment for students to learn reading, writing, and math skills to secure a better future for themselves and their families.
