Founded in 2021, the Nyamasasa washing station resides on the shores of Lake Kivu. It is a young company, currently exporting three to five containers of specialty coffee per year. The coffee is washed at their own washing station, where farmers deliver fresh cherries right after being hand-picked. It is processed and dried at the wet mill level, then sent to the Jumbo Safari dry mill in Goma to be sorted and prepared for export. When the coffee is ready, it makes the journey to the port of Mombasa, Kenya, or Tanzania. About 1,930 farmers, who on average each grow 1/3 hectare of coffee, delivery coffee cherries to the Nyamasasa washing station.

The farmers live in different communities some of which were divided by the civil war. However, they made the choice to work together and combine their strengths to produce high quality coffee to help to build a great future for their communities.
